Random Thought: Did the Supply Chain Get the Egg Nog Too?
WTF? I couldn't find any after Thanksgiving
Subliminal thought: I just noticed that the letters in chain also spell China. Hmmm…
The main way I measure my annual circadian rhythm is the presence of egg nog. I‘m pretty sure I remember it showing up in stores right before Thanksgiving and then disappearing right after New Year. This was definitely not scientific because I’ve only looked in two grocery stores, but the egg nog is already gone. For at least a week. (Let me know if you know who does have it.)
Actually, what I remember is that Thompson Dairy used to deliver milk products to our house once a week. Yeah, I’m THAT old. The milk came in glass bottles six to a crate (with a handle) and the milkman (sorry, woke people) would leave them outside the kitchen door.
I knew exactly what day and time the milkman came. and, during egg nog season, I’d chase after him. Unbeknownst to my mother (I think), buy a quart of egg nog with my allowance money. Once a week. I’d take it into the woods next to the house and drink the whole thing in one sitting. I suspect now that my mother did suspect, since I come back to the house looking somewhat bilious. But that still ranks as one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve ever had.
Oh, well, here we are in woke times suffering from the supply china issues. Maybe I should invest in a web3-based flash home delivery eggnog service? Happy New Year!
