Stewart, I also have the big hands issue and up until now, assumed it was a faulty keyboard. My frustration with that issue - I have called numerous times regarding the jumpy cursor - not once have they stated it's user error. I have spent hours replacing keyboard, troubleshooting.... wish they would just be straight up at the outset. Don't get me started on the touchbar.
I use an iPad when I'm on my feet in rehearsal or noting a show and need to write faster, based on what I see before me, than I can write in a notebook. That's the only function I use and it's mostly because if I'm on my feet taking notes, my huge macbook pro isn't going to work for taking notes as I walk. For the small-hands-types, my laptop is very productive... but I hadn't thought about the whole class of big-handed people out there!
I carry both a iPad and a MacBook. The iPad got included when I switched from handwriting in paper notebooks to handwriting on my iPad. The transition has been mainly successful. But I would rather reduce my bag weight, not increase!
What laptop do you use now? I hate the jumping cursor on my macbook pro 15.
